As the maid of honor, there are a lot of tasks that fall to you to accomplish! Here are some of your maid of honor duties leading up to the big day:
Chauffeur — Does the bride need to be driven around to cake tastings, bridal showers, dress fittings, and other wedding-related activities? If you have a car, you’re the one who gets to drive her around.
Coordinating –– The maid of honor gets the task of working with the bride and the wedding planner to keep everything on track. That may entail a lot more than you think, but it’s one of your most important duties.
Shopping Companion –– Dress shopping, cake shopping, venue shopping, and accessory shopping is an important part of the wedding planning process, and you’re now roped into being the future bride’s companion for all of these outings.
Bridal Shower/Bachelorette Party — If there is going to be a shower or bachelorette party, you’re the one who will plan it and spring for the costs (along with the other bridesmaids, of course). Better start budgeting well in advance!
Wedding Planning –– If the bride is struggling with seating, flower arrangements, the playlist, trimming down the guest list, or any element of wedding planning, you’d better be available to either talk by phone or come over and help her solve the problem.
Recording –– If there are pre-wedding gifts sent to the bride and groom, your job is to take note of who they are from. That way, they will be included in the list of thank-you cards sent after the wedding.
Rehearsal Dinner/Party Attendee –– If there are rehearsal dinners, family dinners, or other parties for the bride, you need to be available to attend!
