Planning the perfect wedding menu is definitely easier said than done! It’s hard to be truly content with your choices for the menu, especially if you can’t spend as much as you’d originally planned.
Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect wedding menu:
Book the catering along with the venue — You should start looking into caterers at the same time as you research venues–about a year before the wedding date. This will give you plenty of time to attend food tastings, evaluate multiple options, and even meet with chefs about the wedding menu. The more time you have to choose the food, the easier it will be to make the right choice.
The good thing about shopping for wedding caterers is that most venues will either have a catering crew of their own, or will have caterers that they prefer to work with. Once you find the venue, it will be much easier to find catering and plan your perfect menu with plenty of time to spare.
Try something new — Yes, you could do the classic “chicken, fish, or steak” dishes, but why not break out of your mold and try something new? You may find that giving your guests unique dining options will make your wedding much more memorable than fancy decorations or hilarious wedding vows.
Ask your chef to prepare a meal that is a “twist” on something classic, such as sushi “cupcakes” or deconstructed hamburgers. The more creative you get with the menu, the more likely it will be to stand out in your guest’s minds. If you can handle the price, go for unique!
