Not everyone is ready for marriage! It’s a hard truth, but one that you need to know BEFORE getting married.
Marriage is not easy and it’s not always fun. If you’re thinking about getting married, here are a few things you need to know:
It’s not just them you’re marrying — That woman or man you are planning to marry may be the most wonderful person in the world, but what is their family like? Can you stand their mother, father, sister, brother, cousin, uncle, or aunt?
You’re not just marrying that person, but you’re marrying INTO their family. Just like your family will want to spend time with you, their family will want to spend time with them after you’re married. That means you’re stuck spending time with them as well. If you can’t get along with their family, you’re in for a rough ride. That’s no reason not to get married, but it’s definitely something to be prepared for before you decide to propose or say “I do”.
Little things quickly become big things — You have no idea how irritating something small can be after years and years of being repeated. Something as simple as clearing their throat before speaking or leaving the toilet seat up can make you want to strangle them in their sleep.
That’s just human nature! When you first start dating and falling in love, nothing is wrong with that person. But as the years pass, the little things start to pile up and grow into big things. Before you know it, you’re arguing over something as ridiculous as whose turn it is to put the dishes in the dishwasher. It’s never about the little things, but it’s always the little things that set off the arguments about the big things.
