Looking for ways to shake things up and make the wedding rehearsal dinner fun? Consider these ideas as your alternative:
- First Date Dinner — Where did the bride and groom have their very first date? That’s where you can and should consider holding the rehearsal dinner. Is it the same restaurant where they proposed? If so, it makes it doubly special! You can reserve the restaurant ahead of time, find out what the bride and groom had for their first date meal, and serve that (or a variation on that meal) for the rehearsal dinner.
- Midnight Meal –– Instead of having a traditional dinner, shake things up by holding the “dinner” at midnight. Perhaps the wedding party wants to go out dancing or clubbing ahead of time, or you can hold the bachelor/bachelorette parties on that same night. But when the clock strikes midnight, everyone needs to be in the venue for their midnight buffet of entrees, desserts, and/or appetizers. It’s not about having a full meal this late at night, but it can help the guests tank up for a full night of fun!
- Mexican Fiesta –– If you really want to spice things up, take a page from the Mexicans’ playbook and hold a proper fiesta. You’ll need a mariachi band to play live music all night long, plenty of authentic Mexican food, the colorful dresses and decorations, sparklers and fireworks, and a DJ willing to play Latin dance music. Talk about a fun way to do something totally new and out of the box! You’ll find that the party atmosphere is a whole lot more fun than a stuffy rehearsal dinner, and will help you have a break in the middle of all the hectic wedding planning.
